were identified and formed the basis for the COMPASS training
programme.

ELIGIBLE
APPLICANTS FOR TRAINING ASSISTANCE
In
general, training opportunities are open to institutions
involved in natural resource management activities. Specifically,
considerations is given to:
- Community-based
organizations that are practicing CBNRM activities.
- NGOs
that are training other organizations involved in facilitating
CBNRM activities at community level.
- Government
departments that are directly involved in facilitating
communities' initiatives in CBNRM activities.

METHOD
OF APPLICATION
Partners
present their applications in writing covering the follwing
information:
- Description
of the existing problem and explaining how the proposed
training will contribute toward alleviating the problem.
- What
other efforts were made in the past by the organization
in trying to secure funding for the course and why did
it not materialize?
- The
type of course
- Course
objectives and relevance to community based natural resource
management activities
- The
duration of the course
- The
breakdown of the course content
- Name
and credentials of the resource person
- The
expected number and type of participants
- How
the trainees will contribute towards enhancing CBNRM activities
in their areas after the course
- Course
budget
- Partner's
contribution or other funding sources to the course (cost
sharing)

REPORTING
Partners
who receive training assistance from COMPASS are expected
to submit to COMPASS a comprehensive report on the outcome
of the training activity; including names of participants
broken down into Male & Female and evaluation of the
course by each participant. A monitoring plan on the impact
of the training activity is attached to the report.
COMPASS
CONTRIBUTION
A
cost-sharing arrangement with other donors and partners
towards the proposed training is encouraged. However, special
considerations is made to CBOs or partners on the basis
of the prvailing circumstances.
